ITINERARY

China has one of the world's oldest and most vibrant cultures. This immersive tour will enable Corpus Medicorum to experience this culture and perform in some of China's leading venues.

We are touring with Australian International Production (AIP). The company has worked in China for over 6 years and is one of Australia's largest exporters of classical music to China. The founder and director, Chris Howlett (OWC 2002), will accompany us on the tour. With a strong partnership with a performance agency in China, the company is perfectly placed to enable a fabulous experience for everyone.

Day 1 - Wednesday May 13 - Tianjin

Meet in Beijing in the late afternoon and travel to Tianjin by coach. Tianjin is a sister city of Melbourne, and is steeped in history.

Day 2 - Thursday May 14
Rehearsal Day 1

Rehearse from 10 - 5 in a local venue. In the evening a celebratory dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3 - Friday May 15
Rehearsal Day 2

Rehearse from 10 - 5 in a local venue. In the evening there is plenty to see and explore along the Hai river or the 5 Great Avenues, built by Europeans as part of the concessions of earlier eras.

Day 4 - Saturday May 16
Concert

Rehearsals in the morning, followed by a free afternoon. Evening concert in Tianjin Concert Hall, preceded by a seating call.

Day 5 - Sunday May 17
Concert, Beijing

Travel in the morning to Beijing, with check-in to hotels before an afternoon rehearsal, and evening concert at Renmin University Concert Hall, Beijing.

Day 6 - Monday May 18
Free day

Optional full day guided tour (additional cost of $100), which includes the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, lunch, and the Summer Palace.

Day 7 - Tuesday May 19
Great Wall of China, Beijing

Travel by bus approximately one and a half hours to the Great Wall of China, at a location less visited by tourists, to ensure an enjoyable experience. Travel to Jinan by high-speed train in afternoon.
