EUROPE TOUR 2018

Corpus Medicorum is touring again – this time to visit Melbourne’s two European sister cities Thessaloníki, Greece and Milan, Italy. There’s nothing to match the excitement of travel and music especially to these wonderful cities! And as a bonus we will stop half way in the beautiful Slovenian capital Ljubljana for an extra concert!

As usual our mission is threefold – to represent our country on behalf of the City of Melbourne, to meet with the local medical community and to philanthropically support local medical charities, and last but not least to bring to our sister cities Corpus Medicorum’s amazing orchestral sound!

I am very pleased to announce that renowned pianist & composer Stefan Cassomenos will be joining us on this tour. We have commissioned another work from him – this time a Concerto for 2 pianos and Orchestra for our Thessaloníki concert. He will play Beethoven’s third concerto with us on the latter two concerts.

TOUR INCLUSIVENESS

To be included in the European Tour it will be necessary for participants to take up the recommended accommodation and transfers arranged in the itinerary.

A great deal of effort (and significant paid deposits) have gone into booking blocks of accommodation. In turn we have managed significant discounts at all these hotels, as well as secured hundreds of seats for intra- Europe air travel.  Air and land transfers once in Europe are considered to be part and parcel of these tour arrangements.

The REGISTRATION FEE is for Players ($650) and Non-Players ($150). This is the equivalent of your subs for our MRC Concerts and helps to pay for the hire of the three Halls, sheet music, professional fees and other administration costs. It also includes access to the excellent discounted accommodation and airfare deals (Singapore Airlines) as well as land transportation etc. For Non-Players the Fee will include ticketed entrance to all concerts.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST AND REGISTRATION PROCESS

Please click the button below for the REGISTRATION FORM. A separate registration form will need to be filled out for every traveller.

At the time of registration you will need to pay your registration fee. As mentioned, we already have incurred costs.

We will close registration by the end of September 2017.

We will then be able to form the orchestra. Registrants will then be told if they have been accepted into the orchestra.

Once accepted, a DEPOSIT for bookings including flights of $1500 will need to be paid within 2 weeks. This is NON-REFUNDABLE.

If you are NOT accepted into the orchestra then your REGISTRATION FEE ($650) will be refunded. You will still be welcome to join us of course!!

If you do not accept your offer then your place will be forfeited and made available to those who wish to come.

We do understand that rostering etc may not be finalised by this time and it therefore may be difficult to make a commitment. Most hospitals are reasonably lenient knowing that an overseas commitment is pending especially with plenty of notice.

We are happy to discuss exceptional circumstances with players as required.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Medical Student Scholarships have been an important part of Corpus Medicorum’s previous overseas tours. We hope to continue this but is dependent on funding from the City of Melbourne. We have yet to have confirmation of this support but hopefully will soon!

Medical Students are welcome to apply in writing to me directly at phillip@corpusmedicorum.org.au to state why they think they would benefit from a student scholarship. Note that you must be a medical student in 2018 to be eligible.

The Scholarships will cover ALL travel and accommodation costs and the Registration Fee.
