Dear Corpus Musicians

RE: NZ Tour – Sept 2022

Welcome to our Aotearoa New Zealand Southlands Tour! It will be packed with the usual Corpus Medicorum fun and adventure mixed with some excellent music-making in arguably NZs finest concert halls! Bryn Terfel has described the Christchurch Hall as “the best Hall in the World” (personal communication form S. King who heard him sing there…).

Please be advised that this tour will operate differently to previous tours. We no longer have access to Anj to act as our travel agent which means that in this instance you will need to book your own flights and accommodation. Some suggested offerings are on our website for your information.

Your payment of $750.00 will assist in covering the following costs:-

Town Halls, rehearsal venues, bus hire, and marketing.

This should be paid as soon as possible and in the usual way we pay our subs through the RMH Foundation.

The list below will give you an idea of the dates involved and what we consider will allow time for rehearsal, concerts and leisure.

Additional infomation will be available at www.corpusmedicorum.org.au

Travel/Bus within NZ

We have arranged for 2 coaches to take us to and from Dunedin with an expected travel time of approximately 5 hours each way.

Flights.

As you will be arranging this yourselves, it is up to you to choose your carrier, the times you arrive and when you will return.

We ask that you consider the important dates above when scheduling your flights.

Airport transfers to your hotel must also be arranged. (taxi’s etc)

Accommodation.

Some suggestions are listed on the page on our website called Accommodation suggestions but again this is totally up to you. In Christchurch and Dunedin, we are performing at the respective Town Halls so accommodation should be within walking distance where possible. Drops off and pick-ups to Dunedin will be from the Town Halls. Christchurch Town Hall address is 86 Kilmore Street, Christchurch Central City, and Dunedin is 1 Harrop St Dunedin.

Please also note that if you choose to follow the schedule above, you will need to book 6 nights in Christchurch but in two separate bookings. 5 nights at the beginning of the tour (Sept 17th to 21st) and one night at the end of the tour for the 24th.

The 22nd and 23rd will need to be booked in Dunedin.

Once you have booked your flights and accommodation, paid your fees, we would appreciate if you could complete the Flights and Accomodation page and forward it to Michael Sharpe (sharpieboy456@gmail.com)  who is helping with logistics. He will produce a list so know when and how people arrive and where they are staying.  The page will be on our website.

Student Scholarships

As always, we hope to provide assistance to our medical students to travel and play with us. This will likely be by way of part subsidy of travel costs or the subs fee at this stage. If you are a medical student, please contact us immediately to express your interest.

Group Booking

We are considering a group booking through one of the airlines. This will be operating for those musicians that we are assisting such as our medical students. These places will be very limited so please let us know straight away if these are of interest to you. The difficulty with these currently is that the flight schedules are limited given that NZ will only open to us in July.

Charity

For your additional information the Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust will benefit from ticket sales in Christchurch and we are working with a local charity to partner with our Dunedin performance.

We look forward to being with you in September and as usual if you have any questions, please reach out anytime.

Yours truly

Phillip Antippa
