And to our last but certainly not the least concert in our Rebirth 2022 Series. We begin with Weber’s dark overture to the opera Der Freischütz - The Freeshooter. Richard Strauss wrote Tod und Verklärung - Death & Transfiguration - as the music for his own passing – a rebirth into the next life perhaps. It is an intensely emotional work in which the whole orchestra is the soloist & star of the show. To finish the year, one of Tchaikovsky’s earlier symphonies dubbed ‘The Little Russian’ as it is based on Ukrainian Folk Music. It is as spectacular and energising as he ever wrote - a great way to finish off the year!

A cello concerto and a symphony – a classic combination but these two are surely the two masterworks of the late romantic era – and the favourites of all audiences and performers alike! For Elgar’s mighty Cello Concerto we are joined with rising Melbourne star Charlotte Miles and then to Dvorak’s hauntingly beautiful greatest symphony – the Seventh in all its glory! Corpus Medicorum has enjoyed a long and successful association with one of Australia’s master all-round musicians and in this concert we are very proud to play Keith Crellin’s own composition ‘In Memoriam’. We welcome back Philip Arkinstall to play Weber’s delightful  2nd Clarinet Concerto and then the orchestra will complete this second Rebirth concert with Rachmaninov’s lesser known but possibly most mature work – his Symphony No.3.

Welcome to our first concert of 2022 Rebirth – a much-awaited return to our musical lives in a safer community! Two giant works of the romantic repertoire are on the playlist: Rachmaninov’s gorgeous 3rd Piano Concerto then Brahm’s reflective but powerful 4th symphony. Our dear friend Stefan Cassomenos joins us once again with Maestro Fabian Russell on the podium for what will be a very memorable opening of our 2022 season.

Finally we have arrived! All year we have building with larger and larger repertoire to be back playing our favourite large orchestral works. Still a double shot of our “Symphonic Vaccine” programme is our treatment of choice - this time with a classic Tchaikovsky double of the Violin Concerto and the 4th Symphony. No one will be spared a cure for a happy and healthy close to Corpus Medicorum’s 2021 season. We are very excited to be playing with the young and prodigious Leon Fei - and directed by our wonderful musical director Keith Crellin.

Welcome to our third Corpus Medicorum Concert for 2021. This special programme missed out last year and we are thrilled to present it this year – another double dose of “Symphonic Vaccination” with Brahms 2 times 2! His second symphony is surely one of the greatest symphonic works ever created and is a complete unabashed joy to play. And to start we welcome back our old friend Benjamin Martin for Brahms’s Second Piano Concerto – a work of deep symphonic complexity performed by one of Australia’s most talented pianists. Fabian Russell makes his debut directing Corpus Medicorum this concert.

We are busting to get back onto the stage to play our favourite music for our favourite Corpus friends! Mindful of the current health situation, we present works for a smaller orchestra to open our season including Handel, Mozart and Vaughan Williams. The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba is a short orchestral interlude in Handel’s epic Solomon opera. Vaughan Williams’s famous Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis is an all-time favourite of string players and Mozart’s immortal 29th Symphony completes our first “Symphonic Vaccine” for a happy and healthy musical year ahead.

Finally, a concert showcasing two worlds poles apart - Sibelius and his grand Finnish 2nd Symphony together with our own wonderful composition celebrating the Greek Diaspora in Australia - Stefan Cassomenos and his Australian premiere of his joyful Concerto for Two Pianos. Stefan is joined by Aura Go for this piano and orchestra masterpiece written especially for Corpus Medicorum for their 2018 European Tour and premiered in Thessaloniki, Greece. We are thrilled to welcome Melbourne's very own superstar conductor Ben Northey to the podium.

Three of our favourite Russian composers feature some of their most stirring music invoking their Russian Homeland. Glinka’s famously furious Overture is followed by Prokofiev’s extraordinary First Violin Concerto. Who else but Rachmaninov can stir patriotic feelings with his highly romantic First Symphony.

It's been too long between drinks and we are itching to play....!

Corpus Medicorum will present a chamber concert at Melbourne's historic Meat Market to welcome The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre to the Parkville Precinct. Many of your hard-working musical medics now have a new home and join Australia's largest medical neighbourhood to form The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

We present an exciting chamber concert with Haydn's popular late classical symphony no.94 "the Surprise" and everyone's favourite Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. 

The concert will showcase Corpus Medicorum's core of principal players under the very able direction of Michael Dahlenburg. We are very excited to welcome Paul English, renowned Australian actor, to narrate Peter and the Wolf.

The concert will be FREE for any inpatient at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Womens Hospital, Melbourne Private Hospital and The Royal Childrens Hospital if they are allowed a couple of hours of day leave. Remember there will be plenty of doctors at the gig!
