Welcome to the Corpus Medicorum 2024 Season - Fantastic!

Certainly it will be fantastic with some of our favourite large symphonic works including Berlioz’s masterpiece Symphonie Fantastique!

In between we have symphonies by Mahler, Mozart & Brahms along with concertos by Beethoven, Brahms and Ravel. We are thrilled to welcome back four of Australia’s finest musicians Natsuko Yoshimoto, Sophie Rowell, Ben Martin and our special friend Stefan Cassomenos. Maestros Russell and Crellin will lead our charge to bring you a fantastically exciting year of music at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Our year becomes even more fantastic with a tour to Switzerland hosted by the Swiss Medical Orchestra and our own hosting of the World Doctors Orchestra’s first Australian Tour

We know that you will have a fantastic time enjoying our music-making whilst supporting our patients at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Fantastic begins our season with Brahms and his violin concerto - it is such a joy to welcome back the incredible violinist Natsuko Yoshimoto to our Corpus Medicorum family. And then we perform quite possibly the most beautiful piece of music ever written - Mahler’s 4th Symphony. Together with Maestro Fabian Russell we will no doubt have a fantastic concert which is not to be missed!

Directed by Keith Crellin OAM 

Fantastic Mozart and Beethoven awaits our audience and players alike for this super concert of two of the giants of the classical period. Keith Crellin returns to the podium with none other than Melbourne’s favourite violinist Sophie Rowell. Mozart’s Jupiter symphony is his final symphonic statement and considered to be well ahead of its time. And Beethoven’s mighty violin concerto is simply FANTASTIC!

BRAHMS - Symphony no.3

Directed by Fabian Russell

Fantastic returns with Ravel’s masterful retrospective Le Tombeau de Couperin followed by our favourite pianist Stefan Cassomenos to play Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Concerto. The orchestra will complete this fantastic programme with the 3rd Symphony of Brahms. We welcome Maesto Fabian Russell for another of his fantastic concerts!

Finally, truly the definition of Fantastic - Berlioz’s grand Symphonie Fantastique completes a fantastic year of music from your favourite musical medics. To begin the fantasticness we welcome Konstantin Shamray to play Ravel’s astounding Piano Concerto for the Left Hand. Maestro Fabian Russell leads the charge and will leave you whistling these fantastic melodies for days after the show is done.
