Welcome to Corpus Medicorum’s 2023 Concert Series – Dualtiy!
Good & Evil battle it out on the stage for our first concert with the adventures of Strauss’s problematic hero – the Knight of the Rose. Renowned Melbourne pianist Kristian makes his debut performance with Corpus Medicorum in Brahms’s Light and Dark first Piano Concerto and rounded out by the another Strauss’s most popular opera overture – the Bat!

Our second Duality programme features 3 famous works from the classical repertoire – all in Variations! Brahms’s great overture expounding Haydn’s theme is then followed by the highly popular Rachmaninov Paganini tribute. Finally, what could be more dramatic than Elgar’s enigmatic symphonic poem? Is it joyous or mournful? Come and decide for yourself and join our best friends superstar pianist Stefan Cassomenos and conductor Fabian Russell.

You will find no two works of greater contrast than Elgar’s sublimely beautiful Violin Concerto and Shostakovich’s demonstrative 5th Symphony! This concert will redefine duality – light and dark indeed! It will be a great privilege to once again share the stage with Melbourne’s pedagogic violinist William Hennessy and directed by his long-time colleague & friend Maestro Keith Crellin.

Time to finish our Duality series for 2023 with a giant party! Come and join the festivities with a stunning and joyous concert full of life, love, sorrow and happiness! We welcome our special guest compare Tom Gleisner and will some of the repertoire’s favourite tunes with the wonderful Colombian/Australian tenor Carlos Barcénas for a smorgasbord of opera arias including Bizet, Puccini, Verdi and others. The second half we bring you Wagner’s incredible Overture from Tristan and Isolde and will finish the celebrations with Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien. Come dressed in your finest for our black tie event and join us for a drink or two after the show!
